Contract Engineer – Large Projects & Electrification
Join Berg Propulsion and drive the next generation of marine innovation as a Contract Engineer.
Berg Propulsion is a leading player in marine propulsion, driving the transition toward more sustainable and energy-efficient shipping. We design and manufacture ship propellers and control systems for commercial and technically demanding applications worldwide. We are currently on an exciting growth journey and are looking for an engineer who is eager to work in a global environment and be part of a committed and collaborative team.
You will become a key member of our international team, working at the interface between sales, production, suppliers and customers. This role combines technical responsibility with project management, agility and collaboration – offering you excellent opportunities to both contribute and grow in a broad and dynamic position.
About the Role
Imagine a role where you follow an order all the way from contract to final delivery. As a Contract Engineer, you will translate contracts into concrete deliverables. You are responsible for ensuring that projects meet both timelines and contractual requirements, while building strong collaboration between sales, production, and customers to ensure successful execution.
You will lead technical discussions with both internal and external stakeholders with confidence and professionalism. Acting as a technical expert, you coordinate and manage customer orders, ensuring accurate drawings and documentation for production.
When needed you will visit customers and shipyards to follow up on delivery plans. You will also work closely with service engineers and our Service Manager to support installations.
Key Responsibilities
Drive efficient order management, including project planning and leading/coordinating projects both internally and with customers and suppliers, ensuring delivery in line with contractual commitments.
Collaborate across departments and with suppliers such as sales, engineering, core competence teams, contract management, special design, production, classification societies, and subcontractors. Identify and escalate potential risks in orders.
Review and manage the integration of complex electrical systems from order to delivery. Interpret technical drawings and specifications, working closely with our Electrical System Integration department.
Manage large contract orders for public and government clients, with higher requirements on security, reliability, and compliance (e.g., Navy, Police, Coast Guard, and other authorities).
Collaborate closely with subcontractors to ensure the correct products are included in the delivery scope.
Be responsible for all technical documentation, such as installation manuals and drawing packages provided to customers.
Collaborate closely with the service organization to enable efficient installations and provide technical support to shipyard customers.
Develop and adapt technical solutions, such as shaft arrangements, TVC data, and associated design documentation.
Who You Are
We believe you bring a positive mindset and strong engagement – qualities we value highly. You take initiative, understand the importance of delivering high quality, and enjoy sharing knowledge and experience with your team. You thrive in a role with varied tasks and continuous learning opportunities.
We also see that you:
Hold an MSc or BSc in Engineering, for example in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Have knowledge or experience in system integration or automation, and are comfortable reading and interpreting electrical drawings, with a solid understanding of how technical systems interact and communicate.
Have 5–10 years of professional experience, ideally including 3 years in the marine industry (meritorious but not required).
Have experience collaborating with public-sector clients.
Have an interest in and understanding of marine systems and technology.
Possess strong planning, communication and analytical skills.
Are customer and business-oriented and comfortable handling challenges in a competitive and dynamic market.
Are structured and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Are flexible and able to quickly adapt your working style to new environments.
